You were always the one who could handle it.

Mature for your age. Responsible. Independent. Low maintenance. You learned how to read the room, keep the peace, figure it out on your own and make sure everyone else was okay.

And it worked. You became capable as hell.

But somewhere between being the kid who never needed much and the woman everyone can count on, you may have gotten a little too good at disappearing from your own life.

I’m Melissa, a therapist, eldest daughter, mom to three, and fellow overthinker. I talk about what happens when the girls who were “no trouble at all” grow up:

ADHD, reparenting, motherhood, boundaries, family stuff, resentment, overwhelm, and figuring out what you actually want when you're no longer organizing your life around being easy for everyone else.

You’re allowed to be a little more trouble now.

Come as you are. Really.

I help women put down some of what they’ve been carrying; people-pleasing, overfunctioning, the need to control everything, the guilt that comes with setting a boundary, and the belief that everyone else’s comfort is somehow their responsibility.

The goal isn’t to become a better, more optimized version of yourself. It’s to understand yourself better, trust yourself more, and build a life you actually get to be in…not just manage.

More than anything, I want you to feel seen and heard here. We’ll figure out the plan from there together.

And when I say come as you are, I mean it.

No makeup. Full makeup. Messy hair. Eating lunch between meetings. Nursing a baby. Swearing. Crying. Laughing at something objectively inappropriate. Hiding in your car for five minutes of silence. Handing your kid an iPad because today is simply not the day.

You do not need to get yourself together before you show up.

Life is messy. Growth is messy. People are complicated. After more than 18 years as a therapist, I can tell you with absolute certainty that one size does not fit all.

I don’t fit neatly into a box, and I’m guessing you don’t either.

If that sounds like your kind of place, you’re in the right one.
